Last Thursday we held our third annual Charity Golf Day in aid of Cancer Research Wales at The Celtic Manor. This year we wanted our day to be bigger and better than the last and so The amber energy Ryder Cup was born.
Built to stage The Ryder Cup, our venue was the 2010 course, with water hazards on half of its holes our golfers had a challenging, but enjoyable round. Players were set off after team talks from the Europe Captain, ex Welsh Rugby player Rhys Williams and Rob Lewis of Mission Performance for USA.
Eighty golfers competed with Europe securing the Ryder Cup. We didn?t forget the non-golfers either, we set up our own Ryder Cup for the Adventure Golf Course and we were delighted to see that Nick?s Granddad took the win.
Clients, energy suppliers, family and friends all came together to support the great cause and amber energy has raised over £10,000 for Cancer Research Wales.
Simon Durrant, EDF ?It was a genuine pleasure to be in the company of everyone at the golf day, what a brilliant day you all helped to organise.?
The evening was rounded of with music from Darren Tyson and a silent auction from Jamie Baulch. A huge selection of sports and film memorabilia was auctioned off to raise even more money for Cancer Research Wales.
A special thanks to The Celtic Manor, ASK4, The Loungers for donating prize vouchers, Jamie Baulch, the Captains and all our guests.
Photos will be coming soon, so keep an eye out!
