We were absolutely thrilled to be watching from the hospitality suite at Rockingham on Sunday when the UltraTek Racing Team RJN claimed their first British GT4 podium with a 2nd and 4th place in GT4 and a P1 and P2 in the GT4 Pro-Am competition.
The day started with both Nissan 370z NISMO GT4 cars starting mid-grid with #54 in 12th and #53 in 16th but Stephen Johansen delivered fast lap after lap and Kelvin Fletcher managed to move from 15th to 1st place by the end of his stint.
Martin Plowman had a drive of a lifetime, passing car after car in his characteristically clean, efficient and breath-taking style of overtaking to bring the car home 2nd in class and 4th overall. Jesse Anttila charged from the front of GTA4 Pro-Am standings and 6th overall to 2nd overall.
The weekend’s strong results put UltraTek Racing Team RJN 3rd in the team championship, 2nd and 3rd in the Pro-Am drivers standings and 5th and 6th out of the 21 cars in the overall GT4 driver’s championship.
Martin Plowman - Car #53 Pro commented, "Starting P15 Kelvin drove a very aggressive, flawless race. I was one proud team-mate watching him charge through the field all the way to P7 and to take the Pro/AM lead! Our time is coming, but it was a great result for the 54 on their maiden podium. I’d like to say a big thank you to UltraTek / RJN Motorsport for all of their hard work and for giving us a fast car in the race."
Nick Proctor, CEO & Founder of amber energy@ said, “I’m so proud that amber are sponsors of UltraTek Racing Team RJN and hopefully this marks a strong start to the season. It’s great to see a team so passionate about driving, putting in the hard work to deliver a fast, efficient and effective drive.”
The team are out again in the next round of the British GT Championship at Snetterton on the 26th and 27th May.
